In Romans 12:1-2 the apostle Paul reminds us how spiritual , Christian change and transformation takes place.  First, he reminds us to think about and consider and meditate on God’s mercies toward us.  All of chapters 1-11 have focused on how God has been merciful to those offenders who have come to him in faith in Jesus Christ.  He says that because of these mercies which God has given us, we should offer ourselves, everything we are, to God in our daily lives.  This becomes how we worship God – conducting ourselves daily in His way, not our selfish ways.  This transformation is a process which occurs as our mind is renewed and changed over time.  Paul uses the Greek word “metamorphis” here to describe it.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:1-2)
