personal relationship

In Romans 8 the apostle Paul tells those of us who have put their faith in Christ that we are children of God who have been adopted into His family as sons and daughters of God. We can call God “Abba” which means Daddy. This is an extremely intimate expression to be applied to God. In the Old Testament they did not refer to God as even Father let alone “Daddy” like they did in the New Testament times. But through faith in Christ we have come in to an intimate relationship with God as our good Father. When we come to believe in Jesus as our Saviour and Sacrifice for our sins, then everything changes.  Sin separates us from God, but Jesus wipes away the sin and takes it upon himself.  What an amazing, encouraging fact to have God as your friend and companion day by day!

12 So then, brothers,[e] we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons[f] of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
